The End Of History Beer

Photobucket
I wondered how this would go down; as Brew Dogs' "The End Of History" Beer roused quite a marketing storm. The 55% novelty taxidermy beer described on their website with caution: "to be drank in small servings whilst exuding an endearing pseudo vigilance and reverence for Mr Stoat" and "enjoyed with a weather eye on the horizon."

The Telegraph said: ''This is the beer to end all beers. It's an audacious blend of eccentricity, artistry and rebellion; changing the general perception of beer, one stuffed animal at a time." but animal activists have claimed that: "This seems to be a perverse idea" and "It's just bad thinking about animals, people should learn to respect them, rather than using them for some stupid marketing gimmick," according to the BBC.

But in quite the contrary the 55% novelty taxidermy beer has all sold out and this is pretty good going at the princely £500 a pop, and means that seven dead stoats, four grey squirrels and a single hare have found loving new homes.

Now, to me this seems like a seriously good idea - genius even. And apparently their normal beer sales have rocketed. Plus I just love that something totally eccentric and captivating has actually got out there and done something beautiful. It seems that advertising does have its good days.

As much as I'm behind the two boys from Brew Dogs ideas and thinking. They are trying to reinvigorate and bring some young life into the beer and ale drinking society - Which is full of old bearded men. (I have nothing against beards, I love them in-fact) It just seems that to drink ale you need a prerequisite of a stunningly bushy beard. Now Breathing life into this stuffy old atmosphere is really quite hard, and I think the they are doing a great job. Their mission statement states that they"are dedicated to making cool, contemporary and progressive beers showcasing some of the world’s classic beer styles. All with an innovative twist and customary BrewDog bite"

But I just can't get on with their branding. It just reeks of poorly designed student anarchy. You can see what I mean below. Having said that their beer is photographed well, with a lot of love and care.
