I'm Still Here

I watched the amazing 'I'm Still Here' at the Hyde Park Picture House earlier today - it's incredible, and only on for the next couple of days, so if you want to see it get yourself down there.

The film is an erratic documentary and elaborate hoax created by Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck which follows the life of Joaquin after he states he is quitting the acting business forever to focus on his Hip Hop career. The documentary follows his emotional, and intense life which slowly deteriorates over the next few years into fights, anger issues, drug abuse, sex with prostitutes and cameos by a huge array of big actors, including P Diddy.

The film is a piece of Cinéma vérité - a documentary staged to gage and induce reactions from the public, and comments on the ridiculous state of celebrity culture. Which means that Joaquin was method acting a role of a whole 2 years exploring the boundaries of acting, which is nothing short of phenomenal, especially as he looks farcically smooth with all that hair, beard and suit. and the film has an incredibly cool poster.

You can read a nice review here and you should watch these videos:
