Saskia Edens
Saskia Edens is a French performance artist. In an 18 minute video titled 'Make-Up,' she paints herself black creating a skeleton in negative space and slowly dances.
Make-Up has clear Mexican influence; Edens explores and celebrates her body with humour and macabre in an odd Tim Burtonesque way. She says that Make-Up is a way of discovering and taming her skeleton in which it joins the realm of the living attempting to thwart death and laugh alive. (paraphrased from her French on google translator. A PDF of her work can be downloaded from her website.
